Every smile is different, but here’s a common journey from your first visit to your final smile at DJO:

1️⃣ Schedule Your Free Consultation:
Call us at (989) 463-2400 to book your free consultation with our team.

2️⃣ Complete Your Exam:
We’ll take a CBCT scan, create a personalized treatment plan, and review your financial options.

3️⃣ Start Treatment:
Begin with braces, clear aligners, a night guard, or the treatment recommended for you.

4️⃣ Attend Regular Visits:
Most patients visit us every 6–10 weeks to check progress and make adjustments. Treatment time depends on your personalized plan.

✅ Finish Treatment:
Once treatment is complete, we’ll do your final check and remove your braces or finish your aligner treatment.

‼️ Wear Your Retainer:
Wear your retainer as directed to help keep your smile in its new position and avoid needing treatment again in the future.

This smile journey was worth it! 😁

She came to us with spacing and bite concerns after previously trying online mail-order aligners.

We started with clear aligners, then moved to braces and elastics when we needed more control to fine-tune her tooth movement and improve her bite.

After treatment, her spaces are closed, her teeth are straighter, and her smile looks much more balanced. ✅

She was such a wonderful patient throughout treatment, and her commitment through this long smile journey made the final result even more rewarding!

Your teeth may look different from one another, but there’s a reason for that!

There are four main types of teeth, and each one has its own shape and job to help your mouth work the way it should.

🦷 Incisors (8 teeth)
These are the front teeth you use to bite into and cut food. Their thin, flat edges make them perfect for taking that first bite.

🦷 Canines (4 teeth)
Canines are the pointed teeth next to your incisors. They help grip and tear food while also helping guide the way your jaw moves.

🦷 Premolars (8 teeth)
Premolars sit between the canines and molars. Their wider surfaces help break down, crush, and tear food as you chew.

🦷 Molars (12 teeth, including wisdom teeth)
Molars are the large teeth toward the back of your mouth. Their broad chewing surfaces are designed to grind food into smaller pieces.

Each type of tooth plays an important role. Together, they help us bite, chew, speak, and keep our bite and jaw working properly every day.

Thumb sucking should be stopped before permanent teeth erupt! 🦷

Thumb sucking is a self-soothing habit for babies and young children, but it’s best to stop by age 3 to help prevent bite and alignment problems.

If the habit continues as permanent teeth come in, it affects how teeth and jaws develop and can lead to bite problems.

How much it affects development depends on how often, how long, and how forcefully a child sucks their thumb.

The good news is that the earlier you stop the habit, the lower the risk of bite and tooth alignment problems as your child gets older. 💙

What a difference from where this smile started! 😁

When this patient first came to my office she was 7! We were able to make an appliance that helped with early stages of growth. She then became a part of our Growth Guidance program where we watched and monitored how her teeth would erupt and her jaw would grow. Once all of her adult teeth erupted, we started braces treatment to straighten the crowding and improve her bite.

As treatment continued, one remaining baby tooth was removed so the adult tooth underneath could come into place and join the rest of her smile.

After about 26 months of treatment, her teeth are straighter, her bite is more balanced, and her whole smile looks beautifully finished.

She stayed committed through a long treatment journey, and seeing her finished smile makes all that time and effort worth it. 💙
