Happy Thursday from our dental family to yours! As we near the end of the week, we wanted to share a little lighthearted smile with you. 💛
How do dentists get so good at what they do?
They practice with mini drills! 😉
Jokes aside, we know that the word "drill" isn't exactly everyone's favorite thing to hear at the dentist. In fact, dental anxiety is a very real, very normal feeling, and we want you to always know that your comfort is our absolute highest priority.
Because we believe education is the best way to ease nerves, here is a little insight into how we care for your smile when a "drill" is needed:
✨ What is it actually doing? What we commonly call a "drill" is actually a highly precise dental handpiece. When a tooth develops decay (a cavity), that specific area becomes weakened and holds harmful bacteria. The handpiece gently and precisely clears away only the damaged, unhealthy part of the tooth. This creates a clean, sterile surface so we can place a beautiful filling, stopping the decay in its tracks and protecting your natural tooth for years to come.
✨ Modern technology is gentle: Dentistry has come an incredibly long way! Today's handpieces are much quieter, faster, and more efficient than those used in the past, which means less vibration and less time spent in the dental chair.
✨ Your comfort comes first: Before we begin restoring a tooth, we take our time to ensure you are completely numb and at ease. We will walk you through every step of the process so there are no surprises. You are always in control—if you ever need a breather or a moment of rest during a procedure, all it takes is a raised hand.
Our goal is to provide heartfelt, compassionate care so that visiting us feels safe, relaxing, and reassuring. We want to care for the person attached to the smile, not just the teeth!
If dental anxiety has been keeping you away, or if it is just time for your routine checkup, we are here to welcome you with open arms and gentle care. Have a wonderful rest of your Thursday!
