Does brushing harder clean your teeth better? 🦷
When it comes to brushing your teeth, more pressure doesn't mean a better clean. In fact, brushing too hard can do more harm than good.
Your toothbrush bristles are designed to gently remove plaque and food particles. You don't need to scrub your teeth aggressively to keep them clean. Using too much force can:
⚠️ Wear away your tooth enamel—the hard outer layer that protects your teeth.
⚠️ Cause gum recession, exposing the sensitive roots of your teeth.
⚠️ Increase tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, and sweet foods.
⚠️ Wear out your toothbrush bristles faster, making them less effective at cleaning.
✨ The best way to brush?
✔️ Use a soft-bristled toothbrush.
✔️ Brush with gentle, circular motions instead of scrubbing back and forth.
✔️ Brush for 2 full minutes, twice a day.
✔️ Let the bristles do the work—you only need light pressure!
Think of it this way: You're brushing away plaque, not scrubbing grout! Plaque is a soft, sticky film, so it doesn't take a lot of force to remove it.
