"Do dental implants hurt?" — it's the question Dr. Khan gets asked at almost every implant consultation. So let's answer it properly. 👇

During the procedure: No. You are fully numbed with local anesthesia before anything begins. You may feel some pressure, but pain is not something our patients experience during implant placement. Many patients are so relaxed they barely notice when it's done.

After the procedure: Mild soreness for 2–3 days is normal and expected — similar to what you'd feel after a tooth extraction. Over-the-counter pain relief manages it well. Most patients return to work the next day.

By day 4 or 5: The vast majority of our patients feel completely normal and are already thinking about how natural their new tooth feels.

Here's the bigger picture. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that preserves your jawbone, looks completely natural, and is designed to last a lifetime. The short-term mild discomfort is nothing compared to years of living with a gap, a loose denture, or a bridge that requires grinding down healthy adjacent teeth.
