In preparation for the 2027 legislative session, Alabama dentists are visiting with legislators in our home towns and making plans to join together in Montgomery for several advocacy events to learn more about the policies affecting oral health and to advocate for our patients, practices and profession.

: Dentists and advocates across the country have helped advance 400 pieces of dental insurance reform legislation, with 18 states enacting 33 new laws so far in 2026. The milestone reflects how dedicated advocacy is helping clear the way for dentists to focus more on patients, not insurance barriers.

Sunday’s ADA House of Delegates reference committee hearings provided an opportunity for delegates to discuss proposed resolutions, offer amendments, and share feedback before the House takes final action.

On Friday, Alabama Dental Association delegates joined their colleagues from the ADA’s Fifth Trustee District (AL, GA and MS) to caucus and discuss resolutions in preparation for the American Dental Association House of Delegates.

These important discussions allow delegates to share perspectives, consider issues affecting dentistry, and prepare to represent their members during the House deliberations.

On Friday, our leaders actively participated with leaders from other states in a work group session focusing on ADA governance, contributing their perspectives and helping shape the future of organized dentistry.
