Early intervention expansion is so cool!! 😎😁

This child went from…
- a narrow upper arch,
- crossbite (aka upper molars fitting inside lower molars)
- crowding
- Finger sucking habit

To now…
- having space for permanent teeth to come in properly
- No more crossbite
- A proper size upper arch to fit her lower arch
- Better breathing
- More airway space
- Less snoring
- Less wear
- Less grinding
- No more sucking habit

There are many advantages to starting intervention early. It is for prevention, for better quality of life, for easier growth and setting them up for success later on in treatment.

Learning moment: In this photo you see a cracked, root canal treated tooth with a very large filling. 🤯🙈

🦷The reason it cracked is because it did not have a crown placed over top of the root canal treated tooth, which was against our recommendation.

🦷Root canal treated teeth are WEAK! They no longer have a blood supply, meaning the tooth is dead, which makes them very susceptible to fractures, decay and re-infection if they are not taken care of properly.

🦷It is super important and that is why we strongly recommend crowns after treating a tooth with a root canal.

🦷A crown is like a cap that covers all surfaces of the tooth with porcelain material, which is very strong.

🦷When we reinforce a root canal treated tooth with a crown, the prognosis of the tooth goes way up because the tooth structure is protected and stronger. 🤓
