Back to school lunch tips...
Great tooth-friendly lunch snacks for school include cheese cubes, crunchy apple slices with peanut butter, and carrot sticks with hummus. These whole foods are low in added sugar, boost saliva to clean teeth, and supply calcium to strengthen enamel.

Back to school snack ideas :
Skip sticky sweets and sugary juice boxes that cling to enamel.
Sticky candies cling to your teeth and stay there for a long time. Saliva cannot wash the sugar away fast, so mouth bacteria feed on it and make acid. This acid wears down your tooth enamel and causes cavities.

Happy National Dog Day!
Did you know.... Adult dogs have 42 permanent teeth, which is 10 more than the 32 teeth adult humans have.
Dogs rarely get tooth cavities because their saliva is more alkaline, their diets lack refined sugars, and their pointed teeth do not trap food particles the way human teeth do. Lucky dogs!

National Tooth Fairy Day is celebrated twice a year in the U.S.: February 28 and August 22.
The dual holidays encourage parents to make losing baby teeth a fun, magical milestone while promoting consistent dental hygiene.
The Tooth Fairy stops visiting around ages 10 to 12, which is when children naturally finish losing all 20 of their baby teeth. However, the tradition typically ends earlier when children stop believing, which most do between ages 7 and 9.

Protect your teeth and gums during sports with an athletic mouthguard.
The American Dental Association recommends custom or "boil-and-bite" guards for contact and collision sports—such as football, basketball, and hockey—to prevent severe dental trauma.
We make custom mouthguards at Mishicot Dental, please give us a call if interested.

Flossing is essential because it removes plaque and trapped food particles from between the teeth and along the gum line where your toothbrush cannot reach.
This daily habit helps prevent tooth decay, stops bad breath, and keeps your gums healthy by preventing inflammation, gingivitis, and potential tooth loss.

Tips to help keep your breath fresh and clean
- Floss Daily: Plaque and food debris between the teeth are common causes of bad breath. Flossing removes what your toothbrush misses.
- Chew Sugar-Free Gum: Chewing gum stimulates saliva production, which naturally cleanses the mouth.
- Stay Hydrated: A dry mouth allows bacteria to thrive. Drinking water frequently helps flush away food particles and bacteria.
