Since 2019, the DentaMed mobile dental clinic has seen between 2,000 and 3,000 children for more advanced cases.

Led by managing partner Dr. Christopher Okunseri, professor and predoctoral program director of dental public health at Marquette's School of Dentistry, the clinic makes visits to several schools in Milwaukee to treat underserved children. Okunseri and Dr. Francesca Malensek, Dent '24, were spotlighted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for their work in the community. [subscription required to read the story below]

The truck visits a handful of city schools, but isn't able to help all the kids who need it, said DentaMed managing partner Dr. Christopher Okunseri.

Before graduating, our outgoing 2026 class president, Dr. Jermaine Walls, was spotlighted by WISN's Gerron Jordan!

We'll miss Jermaine's presence and leadership in the school, but he's off to do great things!

Jermaine Walls, a Marquette University dental graduate, is the first Black male class president in the school’s 130-year history and aims to inspire underrepresented communities in dentistry.

When they first arrived at Marquette Dental School, Aimen Mian and Aya Salhab met other students who looked like them and held similar religious beliefs, but the two also found it difficult to make time with them outside the classroom.

“If there’s not really an organization you fit into because you can’t really go to some of the events, I was like, ‘why don’t we just make one anyone can be a part of?’” Mian says. At the start of their second year, Mian and Salhab worked together with Marquette to establish the Dental Chapter of the Muslim Student Association.

Over the past three years, the Honors Program in Digital Dentistry has served as a testing ground for innovation, allowing new technologies to be critically evaluated within Marquette’s clinical and educational ecosystem.

To date, these efforts in the Technological Innovation Center have resulted in the fabrication of over 4,500 units, generating cost savings of more than $500,000 while improving efficiency, access to care and the student learning experience.

🐑 Long before he knew he wanted to pursue a career taking care of people’s teeth, Brady Meudt grew up tending to sheep.

The family farm is where he discovered a passion for healthcare, and mentorship through national livestock shows and camps is what instilled a lifelong devotion to helping others. On the verge of his graduation from Marquette University School of Dentistry, Meudt prepares to take both facets into the next phase of his life as a practicing dentist.
