At Cake Pop Conference, I entered in the ‘Pop off competition’, in the “Once Upon a Pop” - A storybook inspired cake pop filled with castles, crowns, fairytale magic, & whimsical details. There were so many talented cake pop artists!! The iconic Disney castle came to mind, I looked up various clip art, real life, & cartoon images, so I made a chocolate cake pop to resemble just that! 🏰
At the ‘What’s Poppin Con’ Cake Pop conference, I had several cake pop artists asking how this was even done. ..Patience😅…
I had a chocolate cake pop order this week & had leftover cake to use. I started with the base using a circle popper from .
Then rolled small pieces of chocolate cake to use as the towers attaching them using white melts as glue to hold to the base - melts were colored with .mill mustard.
Then, once all the towers were attached with chocolate & dried, I added a 2nd layer of chocolate on top to hold it all together. 👩🏽🍳
Details: I had purple triangle sprinkles I attached on top of the towers. Then used for all of the designs around the castle. I used gold luster from along with mini Christmas tree sprinkles & rock sprinkles as final touches around. For some added ‘Disney sparkle’ I used a gold shimmer from 🎨
My castle won in the category I entered, I was shaking at this point, I was equally happy & shocked as the competition was strong! 🏆
I won 2nd Runner Up overall among all the categories! This came with a super cute prize bag from .and.sparklesbb ✨
Congratulations not only to the cake pop artists who submitted an entry, but to all cake pop makers who came to learn. Cake pops are art. They are fun, bite-sized, creative designs of edible art that take many hours of hard work.
I love seeing everyone’s work, learning from others, getting inspiration & ideas, & collaborating with each other. We call it a competition, but we learned this week, it’s actually a community 🩷
