Your mouth might be telling a bigger story than we once thought. đ
A recent Johns Hopkins-led study found a common oral bacterium linked to gum disease inside breast cancer tissue. Researchers observed that in lab and mouse models, this bacterium was associated with DNA damage, faster tumor growth, and more metastasis in certain genetic conditions.
Before the internet turns this into fear content:
This does NOT prove gum disease causes breast cancer.
But it does add to the growing evidence that the oral microbiome may influence the body far beyond teeth and gums.
Your oral health is connected to more than your smile â and science is only beginning to understand how deep those connections go.
This is why preventive care matters.
