August is National Wellness Month! Your overall wellness includes your smile! 😃🦷

Taking care of your oral health is an important part of taking care of your whole body. Your mouth is connected to your overall health, and keeping your teeth and gums healthy can help support your well-being and prevent oral health problems down the road.

Brush and floss daily, and if you have braces or Invisalign, follow your treatment instructions, keep your appliances clean, wear your elastics, and care for your teeth throughout treatment.

Healthy habits → Healthy smile → Happier, healthier you! 😁

We’ll always do our best to get you scheduled for a time that works with your schedule. But sometimes, the appointment time you need just isn’t available.

So if we can’t get you in at your preferred time, please know it’s not because we don’t want to see you! We’re simply doing our best to balance everyone’s needs and find you the earliest appointment we can.

Thank you for being flexible and understanding! 🥰

PART 4: First Expander Turn! 🦷✨

A BIG milestone in our expander journey! 💙 Today we’re taking you along for his very first turn in the office. Helping the parent learn exactly how to do it at home and making sure she feels confident with the process is our main concern with this first turn.

And of course, we had to capture our patient’s first reactions! 🥹 From what the turn felt like to his first emotions and how he felt after getting his expander on, you get to hear it all straight from him!

Follow along for Part 5 as we continue his expander journey and hear what it’s like from a mom‘s perspective. ☺️

Retainers for life… or as long as you want straight teeth! 😬🦷

You worked hard for that smile, don’t let it slowly shift back!

Retainers help hold your teeth in their new positions after orthodontic treatment. Your teeth naturally want to move throughout your lifetime, so wearing your retainer as instructed is one of the most important parts of keeping your results.

So yes, we mean it when we say retainers for life!!

Do you feel like you’re in braces jail? 😅

You look in the mirror, your teeth look straight, and you’re wondering… “Why do I still have braces?” 🤔

The truth is, straight teeth are only part of the goal. We’re not just creating a beautiful smile. We’re creating a healthy, functional bite that will last for years to come. 🦷✨

Putting My Son’s Expander On | Part 3 🦷

The moment we’ve been waiting for… it’s time to get the expander in! 😬

After talking about what an expander is and answering some of the questions (and nerves!) that come with it, now we’re showing you what the actual placement process looks like.

The expander is carefully fitted to make sure it’s comfortable and sits properly before it’s secured in place. Once it’s bonded, we check everything to make sure it’s working as it should and that you feel comfortable before heading home.

One of the biggest questions we have is “Does it hurt?” The placement itself shouldn’t be painful, but it can definitely feel strange having a new appliance in your mouth! It’s normal to notice some pressure, tightness, extra saliva, or difficulty talking at first while your child gets used to it.

We’ll be sharing what the first few days were like, how he handled eating and talking, and what it’s actually like living with an expander.

Follow along for Part 4 of his expander journey! 🦷✨

Is my child responsible enough for clear aligners? 🤔

It’s one of the most common questions parents ask and that’s exactly why Invisalign Trial Trays can be so helpful!

Before committing to treatment, Trial Trays give your child the opportunity to experience what it’s like to wear clear aligners. While they won’t have the attachments bonded to their teeth, the trays do have built-in tooth movement, allowing them to experience what it feels like to have removable appliances that create pressure and soreness, just like active treatment.

Trial Trays also give parents the opportunity to see how their child handles the responsibility of removable aligners before making a final decision.

During the 3 week Trial Tray experience, your child will practice:
🦷 Wearing their aligners consistently for 18–22 hours each day
🥤 Removing them before eating or drinking anything besides water
💬 Getting comfortable talking and smiling with aligners
💪 Wearing them through the initial tenderness, just like they would during Invisalign treatment

By the end of the trial, you’ll both have a better idea of whether clear aligners are the right fit for your child’s lifestyle and commitment level.

Have questions about whether Invisalign is the right choice for your child? We’d love to help! Give our office a call today to learn more. (828) 595-9962

Part 2: Questions About Getting an Expander (RPE) 🦷✨

Feeling nervous before getting an expander is completely normal! From wondering if it will hurt to asking what it will feel like, these are some of the most common questions we hear.

Our special guest asked us the same questions he had before getting his expander, and we’re sharing them in hopes of helping someone else feel a little more confident before their appointment. 💙

An RPE works by gently widening the upper jaw one turn at a time, creating the space needed for proper tooth alignment and a healthy bite. While it may feel different at first, most patients adjust within just a few days as their mouth gets used to the appliance.

The best part? 🤩 Most of our patients tell us afterward that it was much easier than they expected. It shouldn’t be painful, it just feels a little strange at first, and that feeling quickly becomes the new normal. We’ll guide you through every step, answer all your questions, and make sure you know exactly what to expect before you leave.

🎉 Part 3 is coming soon… Stay tuned!
