Not every child needs a palatal expander, and that’s perfectly okay! But sometimes, your child’s teeth, bite, or even sleep habits can give you clues that an evaluation may be helpful. 👀

Here are some signs worth paying attention to:

✨ Upper teeth biting inside the lower teeth
✨ Permanent teeth coming in crowded or overlapping
✨ A noticeably narrow upper jaw or smile
✨ A high or narrow palate
✨ Baby teeth being lost in an unusual pattern
✨ Frequent snoring or mouth breathing
✨ Sleeping with the mouth open
✨ Restless sleep or frequent nighttime waking
✨ Difficulty comfortably keeping the lips closed at rest

Seeing one or more of these signs doesn’t automatically mean your child needs an expander. It simply means it may be worth having their growth and development evaluated!
