A Tale of Two Teeth Pullings, Part 1-
Dr. Oblad had some interesting cases come in during the last week, and with patient permission, we are sharing with you the following patient stories in a two part posting. Be sure to check back in a few days for the next installment!
Patient one is a 6 year old boy. His parents saw a tell tale bump on the gums above one of his baby teeth- which is indicative of infection. After taking an x-ray to learn the whole story (reason 9,547 on why x-rays are necessary and important), Dr. Oblad saw that this boy’s permanent tooth was coming in, pushing a gap in between this patient’s front tooth and the next tooth over. The pushy permanent tooth was also putting pressure on this next door tooth, potentially causing bacteria to get into the space below the other baby tooth to cause the infection- hence, the angry red gums and infection.
Thankfully, Dr. Oblad was able to pull both teeth and get this spunky kid out of pain and back on his way to more summer adventures. Make sure to keep an eye on your kid’s teeth and take them in for regular check ups and when you see questionable pathology.
