Today as a proud VCU School of Dentistry alumna, President of the Richmond Dental Society, and Virginia Dental Association House Delegate, I am especially grateful to see this vision become a reality. For the past several years, I have had the privilege of joining colleagues in organized dentistry to advocate for this project before Virginia lawmakers. Seeing those collective efforts come to fruition is incredibly rewarding.

This investment will strengthen dental education, expand access to care, and help prepare the next generation of dentists to serve Virginians for decades to come.

Congratulations to everyone whose dedication, collaboration, and persistence helped make this milestone possible. The future of dentistry in Virginia has never looked brighter!

Did you know the health of your gums and teeth are directly linked to over 57 systemic diseases!?

👄👅One of the main connections is between Oral Health and Cariovascular Disease (CVD) including heart attacks and strokes. The mouth is FULL of bacteria and these bacteria trigger inflammatory responses in the blood stream. The same bacteria in your mouth that cause gingivitis and periodontal disease have been found in plaque lining the arteries of the bloodstream, heart, and brain. 🦠🦠 Proper home care and maintaining recommended cleaning schedules with your dental provider reduces your risks of both oral disease and cardiovascular disease. Keep those teeth and gums healthy to help keep your heart and brain healthy too!!🦷🪥♥️🧠💪🏻
