Cheers to the weekend!

There are some tips to keep those wine stains away.

• Note that while white wine doesn’t stain teeth like red wine, its high acidity can still contribute to tooth staining
• Use a straw
• Eat cheese and crunchy food while you drink

Bone loss around our teeth occurs gradually for many of us as we age for various reasons. Being aware, keeping up with our good oral health and consulting with your dentist / periodontist can prevent bone loss and eventually tooth loss. Don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions!

What is bone loss?

• Dental bone loss occurs when the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth shrinks as a result of disease or infection, and can lead to the teeth becoming loose, moving and spreading out.
• Affects people of all ages, even those that have perfectly healthy teeth. It is more common as you age.

Causes of bone loss
• Dental plaque causes the bone supporting the teeth to be gradually eaten away.
• Poor nutrition and oral health, serious medical conditions, smoking, trauma can cause dental bone loss

How to Save Teeth with Bone Loss
• Proper periodontal therapy with periodontist in combination with good home oral hygiene (proper tooth brushing and flossing can eradicate the disease and even regrow some of the bone loss.
• The bone surrounding your teeth can be regenerated through regenerative grafting in order to optimize bone support and keep your teeth in place.

You brush and floss twice a day, but you could be doing your mouth a disservice if you aren’t also attacking the bacteria living on your tongue.

Whether it’s to fight bad breath or just for good dental health, cleaning your tongue is important!

You can use a tongue scraper or toothbrush once or twice a day after brushing your teeth.

Cleaning your tongue usually makes bad breath go away, but if it’s still a problem, there are may be other underlying reasons. Don’t forget to consult with periodontist and prosthodontist Dr. Lee before it progresses to serious gum disease that could lead to bone loss and tooth loss.
