🌟 It's been an incredible journey since we opened Acorn Pediatric Dental almost one year ago. 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏽‍♂️One of the most common questions parents will ask me is at what age do I need to start flossing my child’s teeth?

😬 You should begin flossing whenever and wherever their teeth begin touching. The majority of children have space between their teeth, especially towards the front of their mouths, which means the bristles of the toothbrush can still easily clean any plaque or bacteria present.

🪥🦷 Anywhere teeth are close together means the bristles cannot reach those spaces and flossing becomes a must! The areas in between your teeth account for 40% of the tooth surface, so if you're not flossing. you're only cleaning just over half the tooth

💙💛🧡 I prefer floss picks for my own teeth and find them much easier to use for my daughters as well. Floss picks come in many kid friendly shapes, flavors and colors to help make flossing fun.

Toddlers love to imitate and help out their parents. The more they see you floss, the more likely they will cooperate while you floss for them. It's so important to develop a routine and good habits with them at a young age. Before long, your little one will be reminding YOU to floss! 😉😉
