Things I don’t do anymore as a dental hygienist ✨

1. Ignore bleeding gums
If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, that’s not “normal” — it’s usually a sign they need more attention, not less.
2. Rush through flossing
Your toothbrush can’t clean everything. Flossing really does make a difference.
3. Use a hard-bristle toothbrush
Brushing harder ≠ brushing better. Soft bristles are safer for your gums and enamel.
4. Skip regular cleanings
Prevention is always easier (and cheaper) than treatment later 👀
5. Trust “I brush sometimes”
After working in dentistry… I need specifics 😭🦷
