Hello. I am still alive and working with my daughter, Dr Kelli, at our Vandalia, Illinois dental office. I continue to see some Metropolis patients drive up to see me. And Love the ones who bring Reds Donuts šŸ© !!!!

I had mentioned that I am having my Metropolis dental office building remodeled and then going to help recent trade school graduates in opening a business for them.

Took a while to find a contractor and then he found damage caused by the roof. $$$$$ was spent to repair the roof and was completed last week. Now hopefully the remodeling work will start soon and then ordering/installing some really nice ā€œtrade school equipmentā€.

I hope soon to let the community know what will be available; and to announce who will be the Business Manager.

Part of the building is being used by a friend for her business: Expressions on Market.

I posted the following message on my Vandalia Dentist Office page. I wanted to let people in Southern Illinois to have this information. I donā€™t know if any Southern Illinois dentists will participate in the Medicare Dental program since it is run by the Medicaid Dental Insurance company Dentaquest.

The Metropolis dental office is closed. People are still seeing this page and asking for a metropolis appointment. Dr Kelli Brunk Blank and me are only at my Vandalia office: MidAmerica Center for Dental Wellness.

For 38 years I have had patients ask if Medicare paid for dental care. The answer has always been ā€œnoā€. Well that changed in 2022.

Medicare now has Dental Coverage Plans!!

Medicare Dental Coverage is being managed by Dentaquest who manages the Federal/State Medicaid Dental plans in our region. We are a Medicaid Provider and we are waiting for Dentaquest to issue our Provider number for Medicare Coverage. We have been advised that should take place in February.

There are numerous Plans across the United States and we are told the following plans will be for our Region:

WellCare Essentials
WellCare Premier
WellCare Absolute
BC/BS MMAI
Zing Medicare Advantage
Clear Spring
Cigna Premier
Cigna Primary

Wow!! What a mess to deal with. Each plan has different coverages that we have to enter into our computer system and learn. Why canā€™t they just have 1 plan administered by 1 insurance company?

The great news for Seniors is that coverage is provided for Dentures, Crowns, Extractions and more!! Yes, Dentures are covered.

If you are in the process of signing up for Medicare you may want to talk to us about what plans we can accept ( more may be allowed) before purchasing a plan by you. If you can only add plans in the Fall then again you may want to ask us first.

I am overwhelmed seeing numerous people still following, after 1 year, my closed Metropolis dental office Facebook posts.

I do have Metro patients driving up to Vandalia.
This past week I had a 17 year old, recent high school graduate, drive himself to Vandalia to have me treat him. And I am so happy that he just got his CDL license and hired by IDOT!!

My building is not sitting empty. Two of my former employees have a business and operate as Expressions on Market. They are using the South side of the building. Please support your local people and businesses.

Great News: The North side of the building is being remodeled. In the Spring there will be a new business in town that the community needs. But mostly it will be helping some local college graduates to have a chance at operating their own business. More to be announce in late Winter.

I have had several more Metropolis patients drive up to my Vandalia office: MidAmerica Center for Dental Wellness (Facebook & Web).

My daughter, Major Kelli Brunk Blank DMD, will be gone most of the month of April with Army duties. I will be totally worn out ( hey, Iā€™m 64 and been doing this for 38 years!) during April.

If you plan on coming North, it may be May/June to get in for regular treatment. If you decide to visit us remember we have no Redā€™s Donuts up this way.

I am keeping this Facebook site functional for a period of time so my past patients can see that the office permanently closed Nov 2020. I have too many fond memories on this post that I donā€™t want to simply erase.

I am back full time to my Vandalia, Illinois practice.
My daughter, Dr Kelli Blank, and I are accepting my past Metropolis patients and New denture patients. We are to overwhelm to handle all the people trying to be seen by us.

Had a person call my Vandalia office last week wanting me to advise them on a dentist in the Metropolis region who they could see that accepts Illinois Medicaid Dental coverage. There are none that I know of besides the State Dental Clinic at Rosiclaire.

My Vandalia practice ( Brunkā€™s MidAmerica Center For Dental Wellness) accepts but we get booked up pretty far in advance and we are 140 miles North.

The Metropolis Computer Server will be connected to my MidAmerica Dental Server today and ready to read the files on Monday Dec 14.

Metropolis patients can then have records emailed to a new dental office once we have consent and the new Dentistā€™s contact info.

Patients who want to drive up to Vandalia can call for an appointment.

A recent Metropolis patient called MidAmerica the other day and told my receptionist that they will not drive up to Vandalia and ā€œwhat are they suppose to do?ā€ Well, you find a local dentist to go to. And yes, no extreme Southern Illinois private practicing dentist accept Illinois Medicaid dental coverage.

Another Metro patient said they wished I could have called my patients and advise all of them by phone. I only advertised with Facebook and all necessary information was posted on our page. There was ā€œno wayā€ we could call my Metropolis patients for I have treated close to 7,000 people in the almost 8 years of practice at Metropolis.

It will take 2 weeks (December 4th) to get our Metropolis computer records up & running at my Vandalia dental office. To have digital records transferred to a new dental office please call Brunkā€™s MidAmerica Center For Dental Wellness & Aesthetics - 618-283-2929. Ask for the office email address; then send us your approval stating that we may release your dental records to ā€œthe named Dentist or Dental Groupā€ listed in the email. We will check our email during the next 24 hours after your phone call and we will contact that Dentist for their digital contact.
