Wait… how long am I supposed to leave these whitening trays in?”

It’s a good question! Whitening isn’t one-size-fits-all when it comes to timing. The product and strength you’re using determine the recommended wear time, so it’s important to follow the directions for your specific kit.

This video from Opalescence, the type we offer, walks through the different options and their recommended times.

Brought your trays home but can’t remember the instructions? Give us a call before you get started. We’re happy to help you sort it out!

Can I whiten my teeth at home, or does it need to be done in the office?”

We offer both! Our office has three Opalescence whitening options: custom trays, Opalescence Pro in-office whitening, and Opalescence Go Advanced take-home trays.

Not sure where to start? You don’t need to come in knowing which one to choose. At your next visit, we’re happy to talk through the differences, answer your questions, and help you decide whether whitening is a good fit for you.

Treatment examples provided by Opalescence. Individual results vary.

School mornings can feel like a race out the door. Try connecting brushing to something your child already does every day:

Get dressed
Brush for two minutes
Put on shoes
Grab the backpack

Using the same order every morning can make brushing feel like part of the routine—not one more thing parents have to remember.

Friday night lights are back across Louisiana—and football isn’t the only activity that can put a student’s teeth at risk.

A mouthguard may be appropriate for sports and recreational activities involving contact, collisions or fast-moving equipment. A properly fitted mouthguard can reduce the risk and severity of sports-related dental injuries.

A good mouthguard should:

Stay securely in place
Fit comfortably
Allow the athlete to breathe and communicate
Be checked regularly for damage or changes in fit

Ask us what type of mouthguard may be appropriate for your student athlete.

This is one back-to-school tip worth saving.

If a permanent tooth gets knocked out:

Pick it up by the crown — not the root.
If it’s dirty, gently rinse it. Do not scrub.
If possible, gently place it back in the socket.

If you can’t, keep the tooth moist in:
Cow’s milk
A tooth-preservation solution such as Save-A-Tooth
A container with the patient’s own saliva

Contact a dentist immediately.

The goal is to keep the tooth from drying out and get professional care as quickly as possible.

Save this post — especially if you have kids in sports.

Because the skin on your lips is so thin, it's even more vulnerable.

Here's how to protect them:
Choose a lip balm with SPF 30 or higher.

Reapply every 2 hours when you're outdoors (and after swimming or eating).

Don't forget your kids' lips, too—they need sun protection just as much as yours!

Sun protection isn't just about avoiding a painful burn. It also helps reduce your risk of lip damage and skin cancer over time.

This summer, make SPF lip balm part of your daily routine—your smile will thank you.
