Gum tissue health is crucial to having a great esthetic result.

The front 6 teeth on the top had veneers and I couldn’t be happier with the gum tissue.

The “orange peel” appearance is ideal and the light pink, pointy tissue between the teeth is what we want.

The top teeth were restored with porcelain crowns on teeth and implants. The wear and breakdown of the natural teeth had just become too much. After the restoration, comfort level and chewing ability were back to ideal. This case was done in stages due to the implant healing time. In most cases, these results can be achieved in 2 appointments.

We have had a lot of discussions this week. This case had two natural teeth that were out of position and had extensive wear. Porcelain veneers were used to correct the position and size of those teeth. Veneers or crowns can also be used to correct color, shape, and texture of teeth.
You know I enjoy doing a whole set of perfectly straight and perfectly white veneers as much as the next dentist, but it took as much creativity and communication with our lab to make these two veneers to match the natural teeth.

Why would I do a Smile Test Drive? I like to do a Smile Test Drive whenever we are thinking about as a treatment option. The allows me and the patient to see a rough mock-up of the final outcome before doing anything with the teeth. Answers to questions such as “how many veneers?” or “what color veneer?” or “what shape of veneer?” are answered. A smile test drive is done in my chair without anesthesia in about 20 minutes.
