The most cavity-prone tooth in your childās mouth is the one that just came in. š¦·
New teeth erupt with enamel thatās still maturing, so acid can break it down much faster than a fully hardened adult tooth. If your childās mouth already has the conditions that caused cavities in their baby teeth, the new teeth come in right into that same environment.
As a parent myself, I say this with so much love: baby teeth matter. They save space for the adult teeth and guide how the jaw grows, and a cavity in a baby tooth is one of the earliest clues we get about whatās going on underneath.
If your child has had cavities, itās not your fault. This disease is poorly understood, and the advice most parents get stops at brushing and cutting sugar. Iāve spent my career helping families find the root cause so the cycle can stop with the baby teeth.
