My first article written in Compendium! () I am so proud of this case and to share the beautiful result for this patient, who was exceptional though every aspect of this journey. The opportunity to document the behind the scenes from presentation, diagnosis, and treatment plan ex*****on also helped me truly appreciate all that I have learned through advanced continuing education and mentorship over the years.

The nuances that go into complex cases, the ability to process each patient’s individual circumstances, hopes and desires for outcomes, records gathering, case discussion with the patient, partnering with a lab that can deliver on promises made , and then, of course, the proper documentation to be able to learn for myself as well as share the result with others.

The aspect I didn’t get a chance to dive into with this case are the soft skills needed to help walk a patient down this pathway when they are ready. Best understanding where their risks lie for long term dental health and applying evidenced based principles for optimal outcomes. This case was completed over two years ago now, and it’s a joy to see her health, stability, and effortless smile at her recare visits.

✨Full Mouth Rehab✨

This patient had gone to the same dentist for years experiencing single tooth dentistry, and eventually wound up with limited teeth in the back and only chewing on front teeth. The implants that were present were not operating as they should, which led to further breakdown of the front teeth. After years of breaking one tooth at a time and being frustrated with function and esthetics, he was ready to consider a full mouth rehabilitation. After diagnosis and treatment planning, partnering with an excellent laboratory allowed this beautiful and functional result to be achieved

This case includes:
✅Digital Design with facially generated treatment planning
✅Lab made PMMA provisionals to aid in dialing in occlusion and for optimal tissue health
✅Restored lower arch first with crowns and 3-unit bridge in anterior
✅Restored upper arch second with crowns and posterior implants with improved contours and functions

Many times the pathway into more comprehensive care starts with meeting the patient where they are at that moment in time.

Of course, it was noted the chipping and wear present, but it wasn’t a concern for the patient…yet.

I always complete thorough exam, review of findings with patient - marrying their medical and dental history with what is being seen clinically - so that we can have a thoughtful conversation about their current oral health, hopes n’ dreams.

Sometimes the goal is addressing only biologic health - periodontal and biomechanical, and the patient isn’t ready to go deeper into the functional and esthetic.

This particular patient was focused on the first two aspects, when suddenly one day, the question was asked if the wear and tear could ever be addressed to achieve a smile she always wanted.

Why yes, yes it can!

Diagnostic records, diagnosis, treatment plan, digital design, and partnering with a fantastic lab () helped brighten this beautiful smile. 😃🥰
