Do You Have Tongue Bumps?

Everyone has bumps on their tongues and can appear for multiple reasons. Papillae are the small, natural bumps that cover the surface of the tongue. The four types of papillae are: Filiform, foliate, circumvallate and fungiform.

What are dental crowns?

Below are some of the clinical terms you may hear when visiting a dentist.

Abscess – A localized infection in the bone or soft gum tissues, usually at the end of the root tip.
Anesthesia – Relieves the sensation of pain.
Bite Wings – Decay detection x-rays.
Bleaching – Chemical or laser treatment of natural teeth for whitening effect.
Calculus – Hard residue, commonly know as “tartar”.
Cleaning – Removal of plaque and tartar from teeth, generally above the gum line.
Filling – Material used to fill a cavity or replace part of a tooth.
General Anesthesia–a drug-induced loss of consciousness during which patients are not arousable, even by painful stimulation.

Mandible – The lower jaw.
