Dr. Ashley and Dr. Matt recently attended a continuing education course at Segal & Iyer Orthodontics in Marlton.

Dr. Matt and Dr. Ashley’s daughter recently started early orthodontic treatment with a palate expander!

Like every child we evaluate, the decision was based on her individual growth, bite, and dental development—not simply her age.

Early treatment can sometimes help create space, guide jaw development, or improve/address a developing bite problem. But it isn’t necessary for every child, and sometimes the best plan is simply to monitor growth and wait. The American Academy of Orthodontists recommends every child be evaluated at age 7.

It’s a little different treating your own child, but the approach stays the same: thoughtful timing, clear goals, and treatment only when it can make a meaningful difference.
