‘ACCEPTING DENTAL PATIENTS’

As a reminder, I’m at third year dental student at Ohio State University, College of Dentistry. I’m looking to add some folks to my clinical practice and help patients achieve their oral health goals.

We offer significantly reduced costs compared to private practices, however you can typically anticipate longer appointment times. Students are under close observation by licensed dentists who are both amazing clinicians and excellent educators.

In our student clinics we offer the following services:

- Extractions
- Cleanings

This week, I had the privilege of attending the American Dental Association’s Lobby Day in Washington, DC. Lobby Day is our opportunity to meet with legislators and address specific issues on behalf of dentists and dental professionals. This is my third year attending, and I met with the offices of Representatives Troy Balderson and Marcy Kaptur.

This year, as OSU’s Legislative Liaison, I coordinated OSU’s involvement in the event. It was a full circle moment to go from being a first-time lobbyist my D1 year to now, as a D3, preparing other students for their first experience on Capitol Hill. This is likely my last time attending the event as a student, but I intend to return in the future as a member of the Ohio Dental Association.

🦷 Exciting Opportunity for Morgan Local Schools Students! 🦷

Morgan Local Schools is excited to partner with Ohio Dental Outreach – The Mobile Dentists to provide in-school dental care for our students this spring.

This program makes it easy and convenient for families by allowing students to receive dental services right here at school from licensed dental professionals. Services may include dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, and more. For many families with Medicaid or Healthy Start/Healthy Families, there may be no cost.

Providing services like this helps remove barriers and ensures our students stay healthy and ready to learn. Healthy smiles are an important part of student success!

A special thank you to Mrs. Rhonda Smith for helping bring this opportunity to Morgan Local Schools and for her continued commitment to supporting the health and well-being of our students.

This past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to write a column that was published in the September issue of the Ohio Dental Association’s journal, ODA Today. In the column, I highlight some of the oral health disparities that communities in Southeast Ohio experience daily.

During the writing process, I met with many dental professionals who share my passion for oral health advocacy. Receiving insight from folks who’ve spent their careers tackling the same issues that are still present the community I grew up in was extremely rewarding and something I’ll never forget!

Hi everyone! My name is Reagan Newton, and I am a third year dental student at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. As I get closer to becoming a dentist, I want to share my journey with my family and friends.

I am especially passionate about oral health advocacy, dental public health, and organized dentistry. After graduation, I plan on returning to Southeast Ohio to practice. Follow along for oral health content and to see my transition from student to provider! 🦷
