May is National High Blood Pressure Education Month, and we wanted to take this opportunity to share a couple of reasons why we're concerned with your blood pressure as dental providers.
🟥We know that dentistry can stress you out, and we don't want a stress-induced blood pressure spike to cause negative health consequences.
🟥The anesthetic commonly used during dental procedures can negatively affect patients with high blood pressure.
🟥Because we're checking blood pressure regularly, we can help our patients with the early identification of high blood pressure issues.

As we wrap up our spring cleaning reminders, we wanted to take a moment to recognize the importance of a good dental hygienist when it comes to maintaining proper dental hygiene.

Dental hygienists are highly trained professionals who do the hard work of performing all of our routine cleanings as well as providing our patients with expert advice for their own oral hygiene routines. They're also experts in gum health and provide special gum infection therapies for patients dealing with gum disease.

It's for these reasons and many more that we recommend seeing a qualified dental hygienist for all of your regular cleanings, and we're proud to have amazing hygienists on our team at Hometown Family Dental.

Why do most dentists and hygienists recommend electric toothbrushes for the best clean?
🟨Electric toothbrushes are able to do the hard work of tiny, repetitive motions for you.
🟨Most electric toothbrushes are designed to give you feedback in real time, helping you brush for the proper amount of time using the right amount of pressure.

When you're brushing with the proper technique, a manual toothbrush can do an excellent job. But an electric toothbrush can do most of the work for you!
