Your crown isn't forever. But it can get close.

With good home care and regular visits, most crowns last 10–15 years — and plenty outlast that by a decade.

What they do in that time? Quite a bit. A crown holds a cracked tooth together before it breaks beyond saving. It seals and protects a tooth after a root canal. It restores full chewing function so you're not favoring one side without realizing it. It eliminates the sensitivity that was quietly making every meal a negotiation.

Here's the honest version of why we typically recommend them: oftentimes a tooth that needs a crown is structurally compromised. It's not a matter of if it will fail — it's when, and how badly. A crown is how we get ahead of that. A catastrophic break — one that takes the tooth with it — is almost always more expensive, more involved, and more painful than the crown that could have prevented it.

If we've recommended one and you've been on the fence, that's worth a conversation. 🦷

🦷 Curious what actually happens at a veneer appointment?
It's less dramatic than most people expect. We prepare the tooth — often just a thin layer of enamel — take precise impressions, and you wear temporaries while your custom veneers are crafted. At the final visit, we check fit, bite, and color before bonding them into place.
The real key isn't the procedure. It's the plan behind it: the right shade, the right shape, and a dentist who takes the time to get your bite right.

"Worried it's been too long since your last dental visit? 😟
Life gets busy. Fear builds. Cost feels stressful. And somehow, one missed visit turns into a few years.
That doesn't mean you've failed.
You're also not the only one — a good number of our new patients haven't been in for years when they finally walk through our doors.
At Burgmeier Dentistry, your first visit back is about where you are right now — no lectures, no judgment. Just clear answers and a pace that actually feels manageable.
Here's the truth: the hardest part is making the appointment. Everything after that gets easier.
If it's been a while for you, comment 'READY' below or send us a message — we'll take it from here. 💛"

"🦷 Most people think veneers are about vanity. In my chair, they're usually about wear.
Years of grinding, chipping, and a bite that's slowly lost its shape leave teeth short, flat, and worn down — and that's not just cosmetic, it's a function problem. Veneers, planned correctly, rebuild the shape and structure your teeth used to have. The better appearance is really a byproduct of restoring what wore away.
If your bite feels different than it used to, or your teeth look more worn than you remember, that's worth a conversation. Send us a message and we'll take a look."

Do your gums bleed when you brush or floss? 🦷
Most people shrug that off. I get it — it doesn't hurt, so it doesn't feel urgent. But bleeding is actually your gums telling you something: they're inflamed, and inflammation is your body's alarm system, not background noise.
Here's what's interesting — research increasingly shows gum inflammation doesn't always stay contained to your mouth. It's been linked to inflammation elsewhere in the body, including markers tied to heart health. We're still learning exactly how connected it all is, but the pattern is hard to ignore: your mouth isn't separate from the rest of you.
The good news? This is one of the easier things to get ahead of. A professional cleaning, a few tweaks to your brushing and flossing technique, and catching it early usually turns things around fast.
If your gums bleed regularly, don't just start using a softer toothbrush and call it handled — let's actually look at what's going on. Comment "GUMS" or send us a message and we'll get you in. 💛

We get this question a lot: "Will whitening harm my enamel?"
Good news: it doesn't! Whitening gel uses peroxide to lift stains from inside the tooth. It doesn't wear away or weaken enamel.
It can cause cold sensitivity, though, and while cold sensitivity can be annoying, it is temporary and does not mean something is wrong with your enamel. It tends to happen when gel is left in contact with the teeth too long, the formula is too strong, or there is decay or gum recession that wasn't checked first.
When we do it in-office, we look at your teeth first, use the right strength for you, and keep an eye on sensitivity along the way, so you know what to expect.

Is Invisalign right for you? 🤔

Invisalign can straighten your smile without brackets or wires, but knowing if it’s the right fit matters.

Invisalign works well for people who want a clear, comfortable way to fix crowding, gaps, or mild to moderate bite issues.

Most adults and teens do great with it, as long as they wear the aligners every day and switch them as instructed.

The aligners use steady, gentle pressure to guide your teeth into a healthier position.

A quick exam will help us see how your teeth move and whether Invisalign can give you the results you’re looking for.

A straighter smile is closer than you think.

Tag someone who’s been thinking about Invisalign! 💛
