Her unique journey has taken her across three continents—from growing up in Malawi, to earning her dental degree in India, and ultimately building her career in the United States. She earned her DDS from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency in Atlanta.

Originally from Nazareth, Israel, Dr. Bishara earned his Biology degree with Honors from Valdosta State University, received his DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy, and completed an Implant Dentistry Residency at the Medical College of Georgia.
Since 1999, he has been dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through compassionate, personalized care. His commitment to continuing education and advanced dental techniques allows him to provide comprehensive treatment for patients of all ages.

Extraoral Exams: Looking Beyond the Smile 🦷✨

At Merchant’s Walk Dental⁠, we believe dental care is about much more than just teeth. An extraoral exam is an important part of a comprehensive dental visit and includes evaluating the face, jaw joints (TMJ), neck, lymph nodes, lips, and surrounding tissues.

Dr. Bishara and Dr. Milli believe these exams are an essential part of delivering complete patient care because oral health and overall health are closely connected. By looking beyond the teeth alone, dentists can identify changes that may require further attention.

✨ Oral tissues come in many shapes, colors, and textures. Some spots are harmless normal variations, while others may need evaluation by a dental professional.

Common findings can include:
• Fordyce granules
• Linea alba
• Geographic tongue
• Aphthous ulcers
• Frictional keratosis

⚠️ Warning signs to monitor:
• Sores lasting longer than 2 weeks
• White or red patches that don’t heal
• Lumps, swelling, or tissue changes
• Persistent pain or bleeding

Here are some tips for common dental emergencies from the ADA:

-For a knocked-out permanent or adult tooth, keep it moist at all times. If you can, try placing the tooth back in the socket without touching the root. If that’s not possible, place it in between your cheek and gums, in milk, or use a tooth preservation product that has the ADA Seal of Acceptance. Then, get to your dentist’s office right away.

-For a cracked tooth, immediately rinse the mouth with warm water to clean the area. Put cold compresses on the face to keep any swelling down.

-If you bite your tongue or lip, clean the area gently with water and apply a cold compress.

-For toothaches, rinse the mouth with warm water to clean it out. Gently use dental floss to remove any food caught between the teeth. Do not put aspirin on the aching tooth or gum tissues.

-For objects stuck in the mouth, try to gently remove with floss but do not try to remove it with sharp or pointed instruments.
