We believe that good oral health is so important to your overall general health and our focus

is to educate our patients, in order to allow you to take charge of your dental health. At CCAD, we have built our practice by treating many patients who have had bad dental experiences, advanced dental problems, problems getting numb, neglected teeth, and fear of the dentist, leading to no dental treatment for many years. With sedation dentistry, we now have a way for treatment to be accomplished in minimal visits, with no pain, and little memory of the experience. We are here to help you experience exceptional dental care in a guaranteed “no lecture” zone.

The link between your overall health and your oral health is a well-documented fact!

We know that many patients forego dental treatment feeling that they cannot afford it!

From 1997 through 2007 there was a 4% annual increase in non-traumatic dental Emergency Room visits. 1.4% of all emergency room visits are related to non-traumatic dental emergencies such as infection, abscess and pain. (11)

We understand that many patients do not have access to dental insurance and even if they did the dental insurance industry does not have the patients’ best interest at heart.

We are offering an in office Dental Assistance Program for our patients without dental insurance. This program is available to be renewed yearly and costs and coverage are as follows:
$700.00 with 2 cleanings per year

$750.00 with 3 cleanings per year

$800.00 with 4 cleanings per year

for patients with no history of gum disease.

$775. If Periodontal Disease with 2 cleanings per year.

$850.00 If Periodontal Disease with 3 cleanings per year

$920.00 If Periodontal Disease with 4 cleanings per year

You will also receive an additional 15% Courtesy Adjustment on any other dental treatment.

For women aged 45-65, many significant dental facts are linked to the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause, with a key fact being that most women are unaware of this connection.

Key Dental Facts for Women Aged 45-65 Hormones directly impact oral health:

Decline in estrogen during menopause affects tissues throughout the body, including those in the mouth. Gums have hormone receptors and become more susceptible to inflammation and bleeding as estrogen levels drop.

Dry mouth is a major issue: Reduced estrogen often leads to decreased saliva production (xerostomia). Saliva is crucial for washing away food particles, neutralizing acids, and fighting bacteria. Without enough saliva, the risk of cavities and gum disease significantly increases.

Increased risk of bone loss (osteoporosis): Estrogen helps maintain bone density, including in the jawbone that supports the teeth. Bone loss in the jaw can lead to receding gums, loose teeth, and eventually tooth loss. This is a primary concern for women in this age bracket.

Many women are unaware of the link: A significant number of women (as many as 87% in one survey) do not know that menopause is linked to gum disease or other oral health changes, highlighting a major information gap.

"Burning Mouth Syndrome" is real: Some women experience a persistent burning, tingling, or itching sensation on their tongue, lips, or the roof of their mouth, a condition called burning mouth syndrome (BMS), which is often linked to hormonal changes and dry mouth.

Gums can recede and become more sensitive: One in three women over 50 report receding gums, which can expose tooth roots and increase sensitivity to hot and cold foods.

Oral health is linked to overall health:
Maintaining good oral health during this period can impact overall well-being, including potential links between chronic gum inflammation and issues like heart health and even dementia risk later in life. Regular dental visits and a rigorous oral hygiene routine are crucial during this transitional life stage to manage these potential issues effectively.

Toothbrushes and Illness: What You Need to Know

Cold and flu season often means more runny noses, sore throats, and days spent at home resting. On average, most adults catch two to three colds a year, while children may get even more. And every year, millions of people also come down with the flu.

Because we spend more time indoors during the winter months and the air is drier, germs spread more easily. That’s why dentists recommend that if you’re sick, you should wait until you’re feeling better before coming in for a dental appointment.

But once you’re on the mend, you might wonder: Should I throw out my toothbrush after being sick?
________________________________________
When to Change Your Toothbrush

No matter what, everyone should replace their toothbrush about every three to four months. After that time, the bristles wear down and don’t clean your teeth as well.

As for being sick, the answer depends:
• Viral infections (like colds and the flu): Most experts say you don’t always need to replace your toothbrush. Once your body fights off the virus, your immune system remembers it, so you’re not likely to reinfect yourself.

• Bacterial infections (like strep throat): This is different. Bacteria can live longer on a toothbrush and may cause reinfection. If you’ve recently been prescribed antibiotics, it’s best to play it safe and replace your toothbrush.

Also keep in mind: even if you’re protected, others in your household might not be. If toothbrushes are stored close together, germs can spread from one brush to another.
________________________________________
Can You Clean a Toothbrush Instead of Replacing It?

There isn’t a way to completely “sanitize” a toothbrush at home, but you can keep it cleaner by:
• Rinsing it well after each use
• Letting it air-dry upright (germs don’t like oxygen)

Avoid these methods:
• Dishwasher or microwave: Heat can warp the bristles and make your toothbrush less effective.
• UV lights: They don’t kill all germs and can also damage your brush.
• Soaking in mouthwash: This may spread germs instead of killing them.
________________________________________
The Bottom Line

• Change your toothbrush every 3–4 months, no matter what.
• Replace your toothbrush if you’ve been sick with a bacterial infection or if you’ve recently taken antibiotics.
• Store toothbrushes so they don’t touch each other.
• Stick with rinsing and air-drying—simple and effective.

And remember: when in doubt, swapping out your toothbrush is always a safe choice!
