Minimal biomimetic restorative treatment of teeth with root canal treatment.
Occasionally ,due to extent of caries or fracture ,the pulpal nerve of the tooth is irreversible damaged, situation which requires a nerve or root canal treatment. Traditionally , the final protection of the tooth against fracture was a full coverage crown (or cap). This may be considered a more extensive procedure , because it requires removing additional tooth structure from lateral walls. Today ,with modern adhesion protocols , the tooth is reinforced internally with a bonded build-up material and is protected under bite pressure with a minimal invazive overlay , avoiding reducing lateral walls of the tooth structure for full crown. The overlay is bonded on the remaining external lateral enamel tooth structure , giving extra strength at fracture.
