Candy choices for individuals in orthodontic treatment is important for the safety of your braces and wires. Hard/sticky/chewy candies will latch on and pull brackets off your teeth or bend your wires causing potential unwanted tooth movements. 
 
⚠️ Broken brackets delay treatment progress  
 
The good news is there are better alternatives to look for while trick or treating. Try to stick to softer candy choices that are safer for your braces. 🙌🏻

October is National Orthodontic Health Month. It’s also National Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout the month of October, the American Association of Orthodontists (.info) runs its anti-bullying campaign . The goal is to inspire young people to help end bullying as well as create safe and healthy environments. 
 
In orthodontics, a significant amount of our patients are children and teens. It’s not uncommon for parents/guardians to seek orthodontic care for their child because they are being teased at school about their teeth. As orthodontists, one of the most gratifying experiences is to see a patient’s confidence grow throughout treatment and to provide this service in a safe, healthy, and fun environment.
 
Our office stands with the AAO’s campaign. Let’s all be part of the solution! 💪🏻
