You might think that getting a full set of dental implants means walking around toothless for months while everything heals. Well, the good news is that's not how it works.

On the day of your surgery, we take out what's failing, place your implants, and fit you with a full set of teeth that same day. They're temporary, and they screw right onto the new implants, so they don't come out. You go home the same day with a smile.

Then we let everything heal for a few months. Your implants are settling into the bone and getting strong while you're out living your life with teeth that work.

Once you're healed, we make your final set. It's a lot of fun, and you get to tell me exactly what you want. Let's make it the color or the shape softer or bolder. We talk it through and design it together.

A patient came into my Manchester dental office proud that he'd gotten a full set of implants somewhere else for far less than I would have charged, and he wanted me to take a look.

So we did a 3D scan together. And I had to tell him something that I knew wasn't going to thrill him. A few of the implants didn't have enough bone around them to last, and he'd likely be dealing with it down the road.

He'd gotten excited about the discounted price, the way any of us might. But dental implant work is complex. It takes careful planning and 3D imaging to get right.

Most dental problems can wait a day or two for an appointment. This one can't. Swelling low under the jaw can come from a tooth infection that's started to spread, and in the worst cases it can begin to affect your airway. That turns a dental problem into an emergency room problem fast.

I'm not telling you this to frighten you. I'm telling you because most people have no idea a tooth can lead to something that serious, and a little awareness makes all the difference. Caught early, it's very treatable.

I've deliberately designed the schedule in my Manchester dental office so that I have time to sit with you, to keep a single hygienist instead of a crowded floor, and to be fully present while I'm with you.
