Wisdom teeth typically emerge in the late teens or early twenties. When there isn't enough room, they can become impacted, leading to pain, swelling, and infection that disrupts everything from sleep to focus.

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out, but understanding what's happening in your mouth is the first step.
