A broken tooth can happen while eating, playing sports or simply biting down on something hard.
Here's what to do: avoid chewing on the damaged tooth, gently rinse your mouth, use a cold compress if needed and contact a dentist promptly.
If you find the broken piece, keep it in a clean container and ask your dentist whether it can be useful for treatment.
Severe pain, uncontrolled bleeding or significant facial swelling needs urgent assessment. Difficulty breathing or swallowing requires emergency medical care.
Don't wait for the problem to become harder to manage.
