The Mississippi Dental Association is working toward this same outcome for MS!! Make sure you stay involved to help us keep insurance companies honest in how they pay for treatment.

Under Massachusetts’ first-in-the-nation Dental Loss Ratio law, six dental insurance companies will issue a combined $8.4 million in rebates after not meeting requirements to spend at least 83% of premium dollars on patient care.

This landmark reform demonstrates the impact of advocacy in organized dentistry to support providers and the patients they care for. Thanks to the leadership and advocacy of Massachusetts dentists, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the American Dental Association, dental insurance dollars are now more accountable, helping ensure more premium dollars go toward patient care than administrative costs.

Some insurance companies are now wanting to charge the dentist a fee if they want the insurance payment sent to their office. Isn’t dental insurance supposed to help pay for your dental treatment?? This is just another hurdle that insurance companies place between the dentist and their patients. I’m thankful that the ADA is addressing this issue and working to put a stop to it!!

The American Dental Association is voicing strong opposition to recent actions by Delta Dental of California to charge a weekly $15 fee as a “separate administrative charge” to dentists who want to be paid by paper checks to reimburse claims.

In a July 8 letter to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the ADA asked the organization to take a stand against this payment policy shift and urged insurance commissioners around the country to support regulatory oversight. Read ADA News coverage at ADA.org/PaperChecks
