We did it! Better dental benefits were on the ballot, and Massachusetts voters said ! Now dental patients can be assured their premium dollars are spent on patient care.

This first-in-the-nation dental insurance reform is a landmark victory for Massachusetts dental patients. Going forward, consumers will get more value from what they are already paying for dental care and be protected from significant premium increases. This outcome sets an important precedent for patients across the country.

Heading out to the polls tomorrow? A YES on question 2 would ensure that dental insurers would be given a meaningful incentive to expand the number of procedures they cover or reduce out-of-pocket expenses if their medical loss ratio is below that threshold. Forcing dental insurers to spend more of the premiums they collect on actual patient care would be a step in the right direction.

Did you know voting YES on question 2 will require dental insurance carriers to spend at least 83% of premium dollars on patient care, rather than on administrative costs, salaries and profits.
