Being a pediatric dentist is a long haul decision. 4 years of undergrad, (plus one more for pre-reqs if you were a non traditional student like me 🤪) 4 years of dental school and 2 more to specialize in pediatrics. It’s not a glamorous gown, but I sure did earn it!

As a practitioner, Pediatric dental surgery days and pediatric dental sedation days are pretty rewarding as you can fix all of a child’s dental issues and pain in one quick appointment that wont cause any fear of dentistry and give them a fresh start.

Hello, my name is Asta! I am an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. You will see me assisting Dr. Kelsey, cleaning your child’s teeth, and placing sealants and fillings. Originally, I’m from Lithuania with strong skills in patient care, chairside assisting, and infection control.

I am also a proud mother of two daughters—Sofia is a high school senior and Valentina has her own family. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, Bardas.

Shark week came early!

This is way less scary than real sharks though, and extremely common, especially in our friends who are a bit crowded!

When lower teeth develop, they develop lingually (towards the tongue) compared to the baby teeth and often come in behind them. Even if the baby teeth don’t feel loose to begin with, they often become more and more wiggly and fall out naturally! Once the baby teeth fall out, your tongue acts as your personal orthodontist and pushes the permanent teeth forward in line with the other teeth.

If these teeth have been there longer than expected or if you’re feeling concerned at all you should always feel free to ask your dentist to take a look!
