October 7th is World Smile Day and also the perfect time to change your toothbrush! Studies have shown that toothbrushes need to be replaced every 3-4 months, so if it's been a while since you've changed yours, now is the time. A fresh toothbrush will help keep your smile looking its best. Happy World Smile Day!

When it comes to developing good habits, flossing is often overlooked. But the truth is, flossing is just as important as brushing your teeth.

If you're looking for a way to make flossing easier (and more likely to actually happen), here are some of our favorite tips:

⭐️ Keep your floss in a visible place, like on your bathroom counter or next to your toothbrush. That way, you'll see it every time you brush your teeth and be reminded to use it.

⭐️ Make the time pass quickly by putting on your favorite podcast, audiobook, or music. While flossing can feel like it takes forever, it flies by if you have a distraction.

⭐️ Start small: If you find it difficult to floss every day, start twice a week and gradually increase the frequency. Remember, even little steps can make a big difference in your oral health!

What we care about more than anything is giving our patients their quality of life back.

When it comes to jaw-related issues, an unfortunate side-affect is often frequent headaches and sharp pains that can be debilitating.

We love hearing stories like this one from Doris about how things have improved since procedures - there's nothing more satisfying!

Root Canal Appreciation Day = no one's favorite holiday, so here's a picture of Dr. Oldham's pup, Charles, to cheer you up. 😆

When it comes to root canals, we feel your pain and want to do everything in our power to make the experience as effective, painless, and quick as we can.

We'll thoroughly discuss any concerns you have in advance, and offer different types of sedation options so you don't experience any discomfort or anxiety during the procedure.

In the meantime, Charles says to remind you to brush and floss regularly. 😉

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month! Anytime you come in, we do a screening for signs of oral cancer or similar issues that may not be on your radar.

Make sure you have your next check-up on the books and, in the meantime, keep an eye out for any pain, swelling, or issues that you need to alert your dentist about. Like they say, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!"

Say cheese! It's Gum Disease Awareness Month. 😁

How can we tell if your gums are staying healthy? Although Gum Disease is very common, it can also be easy to miss.

There are a number of telltale signs that will let your dentist know something is off. Gum inflammation and swelling is one sign - so if you're experiencing any side effects from dental work or just seeing these characteristics, let your dentist know right away!

Another sign worth looking out for? Soreness when chewing food items like hard candy or ice cubes, or after brushing (a possible indication bacteria has created an inflammatory response).

And don't forget what most dentists recommend: Get check-ups every six months. Prevention and early detection are truly the best tools!
