✨ TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! ✨

Congratulations to Ava on her beautiful new smile!

Ava started out with narrow, crowded dental arches, labially displaced canines, a mild deep bite and Class II malocclusion. Dr. Bates designed Ava’s new smile using a combination of traditional braces and Invisalign to tweak some esthetic details at the end. Ava was treated in 22 months and has a beautiful smile representing her hard work!

🎉 TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! 🎉

Congratulations to James on completing his smile transformation!

James started out with upper spacing, lower crowding, and a Class II malocclusion (“overbite”). Dr. Bates treated James with traditional braces and designed his smile to have a more uniform smile arc (upper teeth following the curvature of the lower lip) and better smile width/projection. It’s the little things!

Congratulations James! Well done, we are proud of you.

BFO KIDS CLUB SHOUT OUT!

Emersyn is making short work of collecting all of her bottle badges! She’s rocking her BFO Nalgene and and completing the challenges to earn her $25 gift card!

The bottle badges are earned by completing small challenges such as reading 3 books, keeping screen time < 3 hours/day on average for a week, and going on a 2 mile nature walk or hike (with parental supervision of course). These challenges are intended to help foster healthy habits and goal setting/attainment.

The BFO Kids’ Club is free to join for any child between ages 7-12 who has been seen for an initial exam at Bates Family Orthodontics!

We had a great morning with some of the players from Liberty University Football! 🏈

Dr. Bates and several members of our team had the opportunity to scan players for custom mouthguards to help protect their smiles while they compete on the field.

One of the best parts was getting to catch up with a couple of familiar faces — former patients Kyle and Peyton! It’s always fun to see our patients outside of the office.

And, of course, no visit would be complete without a little friendly competition… even if Dr. Bates may have gotten a little too confident in that race. 😂

We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great group and to play a small part in keeping these athletes smiling on and off the field!

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY ABBY!!

We celebrated one year of having Abby on our team at BFO this past week. Full circle moment as Abby was a previous patient of our practice, then an intern, and now one of our wonderful clinical assistants. If you've had the pleasure of working with Abby, you know she is mature beyond her years, upbeat, hard-working and compassionate. We're grateful to have her on our team!

Thanks for all you do, Abby!

🎉 TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! 🎉

Congratulations to Angelina on completing her smile transformation!!

Angelina started out with crowded and narrow dental arches and a full step Class II malocclusion ("overbite") and Class II skeletal relationship (retrusive lower jaw). Dr. Bates strategically timed orthodontic treatment with Angelina's adolescent growth spurt in order to be able to treat her without extractions using a Herbst appliance. While this isn't always an option, it was preferred for Angelina due to a desire to avoid jaw surgery and extractions (would have significantly reduced lip support here). We think it was a good call! Swipe to see the radiograph comparison!

High quality smile design is so much more than just looking at the teeth and treatment timing in many cases is subjective to the individual patient's needs and expectation of growth.
