We had a great morning with some of the players from Liberty University Football! 🏈

Dr. Bates and several members of our team had the opportunity to scan players for custom mouthguards to help protect their smiles while they compete on the field.

One of the best parts was getting to catch up with a couple of familiar faces — former patients Kyle and Peyton! It’s always fun to see our patients outside of the office.

And, of course, no visit would be complete without a little friendly competition… even if Dr. Bates may have gotten a little too confident in that race. 😂

We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great group and to play a small part in keeping these athletes smiling on and off the field!

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY ABBY!!

We celebrated one year of having Abby on our team at BFO this past week. Full circle moment as Abby was a previous patient of our practice, then an intern, and now one of our wonderful clinical assistants. If you've had the pleasure of working with Abby, you know she is mature beyond her years, upbeat, hard-working and compassionate. We're grateful to have her on our team!

🎉 TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! 🎉

Congratulations to Angelina on completing her smile transformation!!

Angelina started out with crowded and narrow dental arches and a full step Class II malocclusion ("overbite") and Class II skeletal relationship (retrusive lower jaw). Dr. Bates strategically timed orthodontic treatment with Angelina's adolescent growth spurt in order to be able to treat her without extractions using a Herbst appliance. While this isn't always an option, it was preferred for Angelina due to a desire to avoid jaw surgery and extractions (would have significantly reduced lip support here). We think it was a good call! High quality smile design is so much more than just looking at the teeth and treatment timing in many cases is subjective to the individual patient's needs and expectation of growth.

✨ TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! ✨

Congratulations to Willow on her gorgeous new smile!

Willow started out with mild upper spacing and a small maxillary diastema, lower crowding and an exaggerated smile arc. Dr. Bates designed Willow’s new smile in 12 months with Invisalign. She was an excellent teammate! Willow’s upper left second molar was a bit slow to erupt but seems favorable in its alignment so Dr. Bates will see her back in a year to allow it to erupt and the include it in a new upper retainer to prevent it from over-erupting.
