CRAZY CANINES!!! πŸ€ͺ

✨🦷 Did you know that your child’s β€œeye teeth”— also called canines β€” play a big role in their smile, bite, and long-term dental health?

As kids grow, permanent canines usually come in around ages 11–12. Sometimes, these teeth start moving in the wrong direction (crazy directions!) and become ectopic canines, meaning they are not erupting where they should. When this happens, they can get stuck, crowd other
teeth, or even damage the roots of nearby permanent teeth. 😬

The good news? Early monitoring can make a big difference! πŸ‘€πŸ©» Routine dental visits and timely X-rays help us track how your child’s canines are developing before there is a bigger problem. In many cases, catching ectopic canines early can make treatment simpler, less invasive, and more predictable.

Parents, this is one reason we love seeing growing smiles regularly! 😁 If your child is in the mixed-dentition years β€” when baby teeth and permanent teeth are both present β€” we’ll keep a close eye on canine development and let you know if anything needs attention. This check for crazy canines is best done around 9-10 years old!

Healthy growth today helps create confident smiles tomorrow! 🌟

HOW DO ORAL PIERCINGS HURT OUR TEETH? πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ€”

Oral piercings like lip and tongue rings might seem harmless, but they can cause real damage to your teeth and gums over time. Constant contact between the jewelry and your teeth can lead to chips, cracks, and wear. 😬

They can also irritate the gums, which may lead to recession. When that happens, the root becomes exposed causing increased sensitivity and even long term damage. πŸ¦·πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

Another common issue we see is people accidentally biting down on their jewelry, which can cause sudden tooth fractures and damage.

The good news? Removing the jewelry early can help prevent further damage and protect your smile. πŸ™Œ

Shoutout to this awesome patient for making a healthy choice πŸ‘πŸ¦·πŸ¦©
