So, what’s the difference? Clear braces blend in more naturally with your teeth, making them a popular choice for a more discreet look. Metal braces, on the other hand, are typically more durable, may move teeth slightly more efficiently in some cases, and are often less expensive.

Ultimately, the best option depends on your smile goals, lifestyle, and treatment needs!

As promised, here’s the information on retainers! Did you know you can choose from 3 types of retainers after orthodontic treatment?

They are Clear, Hawley and Fixed.

Orthodontic retainers keep teeth straight after treatment. Without them, teeth could shift back to their original position.

Here are some facts about each retainer and their pros and cons：（Or just swipe ->)

Clear (Essix-style) retainers are a thin, transparent plastic that fits over the teeth and is very discreet and popular with most patients. They are removable and easier to clean; however, they can eventually wear out or crack and need replacement.

Hawley retainers are made of acrylic with a metal wire that holds the teeth in position. They are removable and durable. While the wire is visible, the orthodontist can adjust them if they become too loose or tight. They are available in different acrylic colors or designs.

Fixed (bonded/permanent) retainers are a thin wire bonded behind the teeth, usually the lower front teeth and sometimes the upper teeth. They are not removable by the patient and provide continuous retention as long as they remain bonded. However, they require careful cleaning and periodic monitoring.
