When your jaw aches, clicks, or leaves you with tension headaches, the solutions you've heard about might sound intimidating. Injections. Surgery. Daily medication. For a lot of people, that's enough to make them just live with the discomfort instead.

Here's something worth knowing: there's an option with none of those.

It's called EMFACE, and it's non-invasive. No needles, no surgery, no medication.

Instead, EMFACE combines synchronized radiofrequency with high-intensity facial electrical stimulation, or HIFES, to help retrain overworked jaw muscles, improve blood flow, and support healthier jaw function. In other words, it works on the muscles behind the tension, not around them.

One thing worth saying: jaw pain, headaches, and clicking can have different causes, so step one isn't jumping into treatment. It's figuring out what's really going on for you. EMFACE is FDA-cleared and designed to help with TMJ-related discomfort, but every case is different, which is why we start with a real look at yours.

If jaw pain, tension, headaches, or clicking sound familiar, let's find the cause together and see whether EMFACE is a good fit. Come talk with us at Forever Smile Dental Care in Los Angeles, CA.

If you've thought about Botox for a tight, sore jaw but felt unsure about it, there's another route worth knowing.

A clenched jaw is usually a muscle problem. The muscles have been overworking for so long that they've forgotten how to relax, and that tension shows up as soreness, headaches, and worn teeth. Some people turn to injections to quiet those muscles.

EMFACE® takes a non-invasive approach to the same goal. Instead of an injection, it uses gentle heat and muscle stimulation to calm the overworked muscles and help them ease off. No needles, no downtime, and it works alongside the dental care I'm already providing.

I brought it into my Los Angeles dental office because relaxing those muscles does double duty. It eases the tension and it protects your teeth from the grinding that tension causes.

If you've been weighing your options for jaw tension, I'm happy to walk you through them. Message us with your questions.

When a patient tells us why they keep coming back, it usually comes down to how a place makes them feel. One of ours summed it up in two things.

The first was the warmth. In her words, the energy here is always lovely, and everyone is kind. She had good things to say about the whole team, from our front desk, to our hygienists, to Dr. Shelyan, who she described as professional, kind, and gentle. It's the feeling we hope every person leaves with.

The second thing meant just as much to her. She shared that we're always willing to work with her when it comes to cost, something she'd found to be a pleasant surprise. Good dental care shouldn't feel out of reach, and we do our best to make it workable for the people we care for.

Warmth and understanding, on both the care and the cost. That's what we aim for with every patient.

If that sounds like the kind of dental home you've been looking for, we'd love to meet you at Forever Smile Dental Care in Los Angeles, CA.

I opened this practice during the 2007 recession, with zero patients and a lot of doubt from people around me. My first patient of all time walked through the door and trusted me before I'd built anything.

I think about that a lot, because it shapes how I treat every new patient now. I know what it means for someone to put their trust in you before they have any reason to. I don't take it lightly.

Nearly two decades later, that's still the standard. Every person who sits in my chair is deciding whether to trust me, and my job is to earn it, visit after visit, not assume it.

That's why the education, the slow pace, and the straight explanations matter so much to me. Trust isn't a marketing line here. It's the whole business.

If you're looking for a dentist you can trust, come meet me. Call us at 323-634-9004.

Dental work doesn't last forever. Old crowns, in particular, can start to fail over the years. They crumble, they wear down, and sometimes decay slowly develops underneath where you can't see it.

One of our patients knows that firsthand, and wanted to share how it turned out.

His older crowns had started crumbling, possibly from grinding, and decay had set in beneath them. Not a fun thing to discover. But he came to Dr. Shelyan, and in his words, all of it got taken care of.

What stood out to him was the quality of the work. He described Dr. Shelyan's approach as modern and advanced, using up-to-date techniques and technology. His new crowns, he said, fit beautifully, everything done precisely and professionally.

And the result? In his words, new, shiny teeth. Something he called very beneficial, and you can hear the relief in how he talks about it.

If your older dental work has started to fail, or you suspect something's going on under an old crown, it's worth having it looked at by someone who does it right.

If you've struggled with jaw pain, headaches, or a jaw that feels tight and tired, you've probably assumed it's a problem with the joint itself. That's what most people think.

But in many cases, as Dr. Shelyan explains, TMJ discomfort is less about the joint and more about the muscles around it. And that opens up a different kind of approach.

One option we offer is EMFACE, a non-invasive treatment that works directly on those jaw muscles.

Here's how it works. A comfortable applicator is placed over the jaw muscles. The treatment combines radiofrequency, which gently warms the tissue and increases circulation, with HIFES (high-intensity facial electrical stimulation), which activates and re-educates the muscles involved in jaw movement, helping them work more efficiently and comfortably.

EMFACE is FDA-cleared and designed to help relieve many of the symptoms associated with TMJ, things like tension, headaches, and limited jaw movement. Every case is different, so results vary from person to person.

If jaw pain has been wearing on you, we'd love to help you explore whether this is a good fit. Come talk with us at Forever Smile Dental Care in Los Angeles, CA.

People are surprised when I say a dental implant can outlast almost anything else in your mouth. Here's why that's true.

An implant is titanium that fuses directly to your jawbone. There's no natural tooth left to decay, no old filling to fail, no root that can get infected. Cared for properly, an implant is one of the most durable solutions in all of dentistry.

But durable doesn't mean unattended. The gum and bone around an implant still need healthy habits and regular checkups, the same way a natural tooth does. That's the part I make sure every implant patient understands before we start.

I place and restore implants here in my Los Angeles dental office, so the plan, the surgery, and the final crown all stay under one roof and one set of eyes.

If you're weighing your options for a missing tooth, let's talk through them honestly. Call us at 323-634-9004 or visit https://www.forever-smile.com/

Here's something a lot of people get wrong. You brush, you notice a little pink in the sink, and you shrug it off. Bleeding gums? That's normal, right?

Not quite. And it's worth knowing why.

Bleeding gums usually aren't something to ignore. More often than not, they're the earliest sign of gum disease, your body's way of letting you know something needs attention.

But here's the reassuring part, and it's the reason we wanted to share this.

That early stage is the easiest one to treat. When we catch gum disease at the bleeding-gums stage, it's far simpler to address than if it's left to progress. Early is always easier.

So if your gums have been bleeding when you brush or floss, please don't write it off as normal. It's not a reason to panic, it's just a reason to come in sooner rather than later.

Let us take a look while it's easy to handle. Come see us at Forever Smile Dental Care in Los Angeles, CA.

Aside from cleanings, pain is the reason most people come to the dentist.

What you should know is… by the time a tooth hurts, the problem has usually been building for a while. The small cavity became a big one. The crack reached the nerve. What could have been a simple fix is now a root canal or an extraction.

This is why I keep telling patients that pain is not the only reason to come in. The quiet problems, the ones you can't feel yet, are exactly the ones worth catching early. That's what a real exam is for.

I'd rather find something small and handle it small than meet it after it's turned into an emergency.

If it's been a while and nothing hurts, that's still a good time to come in. Call us at 323-634-9004.

People don't stay with the same dental office for five years by accident. When someone keeps coming back, year after year, it usually means the experience has earned it.

One of our patients recently shared why she has.

She's been with us for five years now, and what stands out to her is the energy of the place, and how consistent it is. In her words, it's the level of kindness that keeps her coming back.

And she was careful to point out that it isn't one or two standout people. It's everyone. The front desk, the doctors, the hygienists, and everyone in between, all holding the same standard. That kind of consistency across a whole team is hard to build, and she feels it every visit.

She also mentioned something we're proud of: that we care about you, your teeth, and your budget. Good care shouldn't come with financial stress, and we work to keep that in mind.

Her recommendation, if you're anywhere near the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, is simple: come see us.

We'd love to earn that same trust with you, at Forever Smile Dental Care in Los Angeles, CA.
