Erick’s artistic achievements have not stopped ever since his early success as at the age of 18, he received a scholarship from the very prestige art school, Pasadena Art Center where he completed various art courses to enhance his art skills providing the solid art foundationst his current work. Furthermore, he has developed unique techniques in very hard learning areas such as airbrush, hair arctic teeth and eyes as well as paint schemes that in combination will bring real life-like appearance to any art piece. Such techniques are usually learned through extensive formal schooling but Erick’s determination of learning new techniques and his inner natural personal strength to improve his trait have given him the ability to focus and learn a unique craftsmanship. Erick Rodriguez specializes in creature design character development. During his tenure as a artist there were times where he struggled to obtain a vision of how to project his reality of the world but such struggles have become his greatest strengths as he has been able to refined his craftsmanship and developed new techniques that will ensure his creations to be extremely creative and reach the highest levels. Expressing his creativity in his art has become his only passage and through many years of dedication can now basically create anything he puts his mind into. His first creative expression was channeled through drawing and painting worlds unknown and beyond which has led him to his next evolutionary step in sculpturing in 3D forums creating life-likes creatures almost impossible to imagine let along create them. The creatures allow him to escape the humdrum reality of the world and exploring new worlds where he enters his most creative zone. Recently, the theme that runs through his work is an “organic reality” and “design innovations”. He views art as a way of expressing the subconscious images of his dreams and nightmares but his art does not stop there as his already refined skills give him the opportunity to take on any form of art challenge. This established the level he had to obtain and set the benchmark for his work to reach. The symbol that dominates a majority of his work is seen in the “spray-can” head characters with the nozzle pointing forward, a symbol of his “under pressure imagination” and a creative development outlet. The creatures in his fantasy work explore the inner demons dancing in his head during his creative state of mind allowing him to unleash his uncontrollable talent for creation.
