Everyone focuses on the teeth, but what about the gums that frame them? 🦷

One of my favorite procedures in cosmetic dentistry is gingivoplasty, the art of reshaping and contouring the gum tissue to create a more balanced, symmetrical smile.

Sometimes teeth can appear too short, uneven, or disproportionate, not because of their actual shape, but because of the way the gum tissue surrounds them.

Think of your teeth as a beautiful picture and your gums as the frame. Even the most beautiful picture needs the right frame to truly shine.

At TruGLO, we use advanced laser technology, including diode and/or CO2 lasers, depending on the patient’s anatomy and treatment goals. Some cases require only soft tissue contouring, while others involve underlying bone and may require additional periodontal procedures.

What I love most is combining gingival contouring with veneers or, as in this beautiful case, cosmetic dental bonding.

By refining the gumline and restoring the natural proportions of the teeth, we can create a smile that looks more harmonious, balanced, and beautifully natural.

Because a beautiful smile isn’t just about the teeth. It’s about everything that surrounds them.

There are many things I can tolerate as a business owner, but attacks on the character and integrity of the people who have devoted their lives to caring for others are not among them.

Recently, a comedian chose to make TruGLO the subject of a joke. I will not name or tag this individual because I refuse to encourage the same hatred and negativity that has been directed toward us. But misleading statements that damage reputations and livelihoods are simply not funny.

I came to this country as an immigrant with very little. Through faith, sacrifice, and hard work, I built TruGLO on the belief that dentistry is more than a profession. It is a vocation rooted in compassion, integrity, and service.

Building that culture has not always been easy. Not everyone who has worked alongside us has shared those values. But today, I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by a team that genuinely believes in serving others with humility, kindness, and love.

Our faith guides our character, but our compassion has no religious boundaries. We care for Christians, Muslims, Jews, people of every faith, and those of no faith. We believe every human being deserves dignity, respect, and compassion.

We are not perfect, nor do we claim to be. We welcome honest concerns and opportunities to make things right. But there is a difference between constructive criticism and publicly misrepresenting someone’s character.

My faith teaches me to love others, even those who wrong me. But love does not mean remaining silent when the truth is distorted or allowing our team to become someone else’s punching bag.

We will continue to stand for charity, compassion, integrity, accountability, and service.

You cannot control what others say about you, but you can control the character with which you respond and the good you continue to put into this world.

That is who we are. That is TruGLO.

🦷 Parents, the biggest secret to keeping your children’s teeth cavity free? YOU!

One of my biggest recommendations as a dentist and a mom of three is to help your children brush their teeth, even until age 8! The truth is, children simply don’t have the manual dexterity to effectively remove plaque on their own.

Here are a few things I recommend:

🪥 Brush twice daily. Electric toothbrushes are wonderful for children! My own kids use the Oral-B children’s electric toothbrush. Let them brush first, but YOU should always do the final brush.

🔍 Check their gumline! Take a closer look, especially around the gums, where plaque loves to accumulate. You would be surprised how much gets missed!

✨ Toothpaste matters, but technique matters MORE. Choose an age appropriate fluoride toothpaste or a well formulated hydroxyapatite toothpaste. The most important thing is physically removing plaque from the teeth.

🧵 FLOSS THEIR TEETH! This is something so many parents overlook. If your child’s teeth touch, those contacts need to be flossed. Floss picks are fantastic and make the process so much easier.

And one more thing parents should know: Not every cavity needs a filling! Depending on how early decay is detected and whether the surface is cavitated, some lesions can be monitored or treated with remineralization therapies like Curodont or ablation with Convergent Dental Co2 laser. Early detection can make a tremendous difference.

At the end of the day, preventing cavities isn’t about buying the fanciest toothbrush or most expensive toothpaste. It’s about consistency, proper technique, and making sure those little teeth are actually CLEAN.

Let your children practice, but make sure you’re the one doing the final brush. ❤️

Smile makeovers are not just for women.

A lot of people live with low self esteem because of their teeth, and you would be surprised how many of our smile makeover patients are actually men.

Veneers do not have to make a smile look feminine. The final result depends entirely on how the smile is designed. Tooth shape, edge translucency, anatomy, proportions, texture, and even the shade we choose can all create a very different look.

For men, we can create a stronger, more masculine smile with broader shapes, defined anatomy, natural translucency, and a color that looks healthy without looking artificial.

And for many of our male patients, the change goes far beyond the teeth. They smile more in photos. They speak more confidently. They feel better walking into a meeting, going on a date, or simply looking in the mirror.

A smile makeover should never make you look like someone else. It should make you look like the most confident version of yourself.

Veneers are not a female treatment. Confidence is for everyone.

Dentists get lied to every. single. day. 😂🦷

“Of course I floss every day!”

Meanwhile… we went to school for 8+ years and some of us even longer to basically know exactly whether you floss or not. 😂 And in my case, I swear I can practically smell plaque on someone’s breath and my eyes immediately know where to look. 👀

But this isn’t to shame anyone. I actually think a lot of people genuinely don’t know how to floss properly.

Sometimes it’s dexterity. Sometimes it’s the floss you’re using. And sometimes you’re technically “flossing”… but you’re just snapping it between the teeth and missing the plaque sitting along the sides.

The goal is to gently wrap the floss around BOTH sides of each tooth in a C-shape and clean below the gumline. And yes 🙌 the type of floss matters too. I like a floss that’s substantial enough to actually grab plaque, but not so thick that it shreds or gets stuck. Waxed floss is usually a great option.

BUT… my personal favorite? A water flosser. 💦🦷

Hands down.

It takes so much of the difficulty out of cleaning between the teeth, gets into areas people commonly miss, helps flush out plaque and debris, and can even help with some of that staining buildup.

So no, you don’t have to lie to your dentist. 😂 We already know.

We just want to help you find a way to clean between your teeth that you’ll ACTUALLY do consistently.

There’s something so emotional about looking at pictures of ourselves as kids.

As a mom, I look at my children and think about all the incredible people they’re going to become. I can’t wait to see where life takes them, what they’ll love, what they’ll build, who they’ll become. And at the exact same time, I wish I could make time move just a little slower, because I know how quickly these years disappear.

Looking at childhood photos of my team made me feel the same way. I found myself thinking, if I were their mom, I would be so proud of the people they became.

None of us probably sat there as little kids dreaming about becoming office managers, dental assistants, hygienists, doctors, or building a dental practice together. We just had our little dreams, our personalities, our families, and no idea where life would eventually lead us.

And somehow, it led all of us here.

I feel so blessed that our paths crossed and that we get to spend this chapter of our lives together. We work hard, we laugh, we grow, we celebrate each other, and little by little, we’re creating memories we probably don’t even realize we’re making.

Because one day, 30 years from now, the pictures we’re taking today will look just like these childhood photos do now: a distant little moment in time that somehow passed far too quickly.

So here’s to who we were, who we became, and all the beautiful life still ahead of us.

Meet Dr. Namrata, our incredible TMJ specialist and restorative dentist at TruGLO. 🤍

I can recommend her not only as a colleague, but from personal experience.

My husband struggled with TMD and facial pain, and Dr. Namrata personally treated him using a customized approach that included both a daytime and nighttime TMJ splint. She also worked alongside a pulmonary specialist and incorporated an at-home sleep study so his treatment wasn’t just focused on symptoms, but on understanding the bigger picture.

His experience with her was incredible, and he genuinely could not speak more highly of her knowledge, her techniques, and the care she put into his treatment.

And he is far from the only one.

Happy Dental Office Manager Day to my girls, Sandy, Dianna, and Leslie. ❤️

I absolutely LOVE these women. They are not just my office managers. They are my partners. They are in the thick of it with me every single day, and I genuinely could not do what I do without them.

People seriously underestimate how hard it is to run a dental office. It is NOT for the weak of heart. 😂 You are managing patients, employees, doctors, schedules, collections, insurance, emergencies, personalities, problems, and about 700 things happening at the exact same time… while somehow keeping the entire office moving and still brushing your hair and putting in a smile.

And the only people who truly understand what it takes to own and operate a dental practice are the people standing right beside you helping you run it.

We have been through stressful days, crazy days, amazing days, and days where we all probably wanted to walk out together. 😂 But when one of us needs the other, we show up. We turn to each other. We figure it out. And we keep going.

Sandy, Dianna, and Leslie, thank you for protecting our offices, our teams, our patients, and honestly, ME. 😂 Thank you for caring about TruGLO like it is your own.

I am so grateful for you three. I love you guys more than you know.

Wait… that’s a flipper? 👀🦷

When a front tooth is missing, one of the biggest concerns patients have is, “What am I going to look like while I’m waiting for my implant?”

This is where a beautifully made Valplast flipper can make such a difference.

A Valplast flipper is a lightweight, flexible removable temporary tooth that can be used to replace a missing tooth while the area underneath heals. And when it’s designed really well, it can blend so seamlessly into the smile that most people would never know it’s there.

In this case, we needed to give the bone and gum tissue time to heal and mature before moving forward with the implant restoration. Especially in the front of the mouth, we don’t want to rush that process. The position and contour of the gum tissue are incredibly important to the final aesthetic result.

So while we’re patiently allowing biology to do its thing, our patient certainly doesn’t have to walk around without a front tooth. 🤍
