June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month! 🧠
Did you know there is increasing evidence that links POOR oral health to Alzheimer's Disease? While Alzheimer's Disease has many factors that affect a person's risk, it is suggested that preventing oral inflammation could be beneficial!

HOW is Alzheimer's Disease linked to oral disease⁉️
P. Gingivalis 🦠🧫 (a bacteria found in inflamed mouths and unhappy gums ) has been found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease along with the toxins that the bacteria produces. This risk is highest in patients with chronic periodontitis (ongoing inflammation in the mouth).🦠
Alzheimer's Disease also makes it very hard for patients with the condition to take care of themselves; this is thought to cause a bidirectional relationship ⬅️➡️ that AD can make oral disease worse and oral disease progresses AD!

What can YOU do ⁉️
Having good oral hygiene and good nutrition at home is one of the best ways to increase your overall health! Brushing your teeth 2x daily, flossing at night before bed, regular dental check ups are all things you can be doing to stay healthy in your mouth.
