Sugar itself doesn't actually eat away at your teeth! Cavities are actually caused by the acid produced by bacteria in your mouth.

When you consume sugary or starchy treats, the natural bacteria in your mouth feed on those carbohydrates and release acid as a byproduct. That acid is what slowly wears down your protective enamel over time! 🦠

Enjoying sweet treats in moderation is totally fine, just be sure to drink plenty of water afterward and brush twice a day to keep those acid-producing bacteria at bay. 🪥
