One of the most painful but easy-to-treat dental emergencies is a dry socket. They typically occur after a tooth extraction. As your mouth heals, blood clots form over the extraction site. A dry socket occurs when this blood clot is dislodged or doesn't form properly resulting in an exposed nerve from under your gums.
