Dear Patients,

We hope this letter this finds you and your family in good health. San Antonio has been through a lot over the last few months, and we are all looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing remains the same: our commitment to safety for our patients and staff.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our profession and our practice. Our office will continue to follow infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the CDC, and OSHA. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued to make sure that our infection control procedures are not only current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations, but that we exceed their recommendations and your expectations.

Given the times we live in, you will see some changes when it’s time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help further protect our patients and our staff. Among these:

*We ask that you go to your patient portal prior to your appointment to update all necessary forms, including a new pre-appointment screening form as we have discontinued use of the iPads at this time. You will be asked the same screening questions again at the time of your appointment. All forms, including the medical history update, MUST be completed to honor your appointment for your safety. If you have not created a patient portal, please check your email history for a link that has been sent from our office. If you need to have the link re-sent, please contact us.

*We will have you contact the office when you arrive and politely ask you to wait in your vehicle to minimize the number of people in the office at any one time. You will receive a phone call or text when it is time for you to come directly to the treatment room. We will meet you at the office door to take your temperature prior to entering the office. Per updated CDC guidelines, we ask that you wear a facemask or cloth face covering to your appointment.

*We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. We also ask that you bring a pen with you to appointments to sign any necessary documents.

*Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. We thank you ahead of time for your patience as this may mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

There will also be several changes that you may not immediately notice but that will further enhance the safety and comfort of your visit.

*In-room medical grade filtration has been added to each treatment room to completely clean the air of allergens and airborne pathogens (including viruses) in each room every 10 minutes.

*In-treatment aerosol control technology has been added to further enhance current protocols during cleanings and treatment. We have implemented Dryshield, which is an isolation and retraction system that will aid in keeping the working environment clean by providing a continuous suction to help control and reduce aerosols.

We look forward to welcoming you into our practice once again and are happy to answer any questions you might have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. We will be working diligently to reschedule appointments as quickly as we are able. Please do not hesitate to call the office with any concerns at (210) 599-9610.

Thank you for being a part of our practice family. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lindsey Schlepp and her AMAZING TEAM

Dear patients of Dr. Lindsey Schlepp,

As healthcare professionals, the health and well-being of our patients, staff, and their families has always been and will continue to be our top priority. We are experiencing an unprecedented chain of events in our country and difficult decisions are being placed before us.

After careful consideration, we have temporarily suspended seeing non-emergency patients effective 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 and are reassessing daily. We are doing our best to “flatten the curve”. At this time, we are performing a deep cleaning of all surfaces and areas. We consulted with medical physicians in facility management positions and came to the conclusion that this was the appropriate action and would allow us to put proper treatment protocols in place moving forward. As previously stated, we follow CDC guidelines daily, cleaning and sterilizing surfaces and equipment using top medical grade antibacterial and antiviral agents after each and every patient—this is not a new protocol for us.

I am constantly monitoring reports from the local, state, and federal governmental agencies. I will update here and we will email and/or text information as your appointment dates approach. We are not going to contact everyone more than a few days in advance because of the constant changes, so please bear with us. Please monitor your missed calls, messages, emails and texts. We certainly want to keep you informed. We will always be available for patients with emergency needs to include:

*severe toothaches (throbbing that prevents sleep or daily functioning)

*swelling of gums, face, or neck

*bleeding in the mouth that does not stop

*trauma (such as broken teeth due to injury)

If you have any symptoms that include fever, cough, shortness of breath, achiness, or fatigue, or have traveled out of the country or to a “hotspot” within the United States, or have had contact with anyone exhibiting any of these symptoms or that has received a positive test for COVID-19, please contact us to reschedule your appointment.

For the foreseeable future, once we reopen the office for elective patient care, this is how we plan to continue to safely see patients in our office.

** Please call the office when you arrive in the parking lot. We will have a staff member meet you at your car to take your temperature and ask a series of questions to determine your risk of exposure to COVID-19. The staff member will be wearing a mask for hers and your protection…this doesn’t indicate sickness, just protection.

**When your treatment operatory is ready, you will be escorted directly to the room without having to wait in the reception area. At the end of your appointment, follow up scheduling and payment arrangements will be taken care of in the treatment room so there will be no need to stop at the front desk. You will then be escorted back to your car.

**Please do not plan to bring any additional family members/friends with you to the appointment. They will not be allowed in the office. The ONLY exception will be one parent of a minor allowed in the treatment room.

**We wanted to make patients aware of our protocol, however there will be no fee charged for cancellations during this time. We want you to have full control in your decisions knowing that we are doing everything in our power to provide a safe treatment environment.

Finally, thank you for your patience and kindness. Help each other. We appreciate you all and want this to be over as much as any of you. This is so hard and emotional and none of us have all the answers.

Much love,

Lindsey Schlepp, DDS

We are sure you are aware of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and its spread across the United States in recent days. At the office of Lindsey Schlepp DDS, we have always taken infection control very seriously - We are experts in universal precautions. Dentistry has been following universal health precautions for over 20 years. We take advanced precautions against any potential disease by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and using top medical grade antibacterial and antiviral agents to clean the treatment rooms after each and every patient – this is not a new protocol for us.

We have redoubled our efforts by constantly cleaning waiting room surfaces and removing all items that cannot be effectively cleaned to include magazines.
To that end, if you have any symptoms that include fever, fatigue, cough and shortness of breath, please call us with that information prior to your arrival so that we may reschedule your appointment.
Beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020 we will record your temperature and ask you a brief health questionnaire updating your medical history and any recent travel.

Please do not bring any family members to appointments that may have symptoms or are not feeling well.

Keep up with your preventive care...when bacteria are controlled in your mouth, it enables your immune system to be at its best in fighting off other infectious diseases! We know that these are difficult times and we appreciate your trust in our office to provide the best dental care for you and your family.

Please stay tuned for any updates on our website and social media.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lindsey Schlepp

If you have a young child that has trouble paying attention, has daytime sleepiness, irritability, severe issues with allergies and/or breathes frequently through the mouth or has trouble breathing through the nose, this article is definitely worth the read. We see this condition weekly in our office and would love to talk to you about any concerns you may have.

This means that 70% of those medicated children had been misdiagnosed with ADHD, when they actually had a treatable form of sleep disordered breathing.

Happy Halloween from our crew! It’s tough keeping these ladies in line, but someone has to do it😂❤️!!
