As many of you know, one of our hygienists was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of leukemia in January 2018. It has been nearly a year, and despite major improvements, she is still strongly fighting the cancer.

Please keep Ashton and her family in your prayers as we start this new year. She will be spending a lot of time in Houston undergoing an experimental clinical trial.

We are sharing the GoFundMe page again for anyone who would like to donate or help. The extended stays in Houston were not initially foreseen, and any donations will go towards travel costs, hospital rooms, and possibly an apartment lease.

Ashton brought only positivity to our dental practice and we greatly look forward to the day when she is back firmly with her family in Arkansas.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering Ashton in your prayers! We hope that you have a wonderful, prosperous, and healthy 2019!!

DENTAL BLEACHING!! - What do you know about it? Is it safe?

Most dental whitening products contain a diluted solution of Hydrogen Peroxide. Yes, that's right! The same hydrogen peroxide you probably use to disinfect scrapes and burns on your skin.

Over time our teeth become stained from food, drink, and especially smoke! This is because our hard enamel is full of microscopic holes, similar to a sponge. Discolorations slowly work their way into these holes and darken the teeth.

Peroxides also enter these holes and break apart stains using Oxygen atoms!! If used responsibly, they're quite safe.

HOWEVER, if used improperly, peroxide solutions can have serious consequences to your dental health. They can actually break down your enamel and destroy your teeth!! - And if you already have a cavity, peroxides can skip past the enamel and damage teeth right at their core!! Noooooo!!!

Here at our office we really like beautiful teeth.. but we absolutely LOVE healthy teeth!! We suggest avoiding at-home whitening trays until you've received a routine checkup to determine if any teeth have signs of damage.

Please consult with your dentist if you're considering whitening!

FLUORIDE IS NOT A NUTRIENT !! It is not essential for any biological process.

The average American body can only process 50% of the fluoride consumed each day. The rest slowly builds up in bones, making them brittle and frail (skeletal fluorosis).

Here at our office, we carry a variety of products that are scientifically proven to remineralize enamel better than fluoride.

Call us today and ask about our safe alternatives !!

Remember: You don't have to floss all your teeth. Just floss the ones you want to keep!

Most of us are aware that poor dental hygiene can lead to tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath - but not brushing our teeth can also lead to far more serious illnesses.

The same bacteria responsible for cavities in our teeth can also enter the body's blood stream and cause very serious conditions such as: Alzheimer's Disease, Pancreatic Cancer, and Heart Disease !!

Regular dental check ups are important because they help keep our whole body healthy. The American Dental Association recommends having a regular dental visit at least every 6 months. If it has been awhile, then call us today to setup an appointment. We want to keep you and our community healthy and clean. (501)312-8881

Smile!!

We look at some less well-known and serious conditions that have been linked to poor dental hygiene in recent years: Alzheimer's disease, pancreatic cancer and heart disease.
