Tiny Tooth Tip Tuesday!

Let’s talk about how much toothpaste your child should use, along with a few helpful brushing tips. While every child’s needs are different and should be evaluated by a dentist, the general recommendations are as follows:

Less than 3 years of age: Rice-sized amount of toothpaste

3 years and older: Pea-sized amount of toothpaste

As kids become independent with their brushing, it is important to stay involved. Here are a few tips to help out:
1. Model good habits: brush alongside your child
2. Use a timer: two full minutes of brushing
3. Check their work: make sure they didn’t miss any spots!
4. Introduce rewards: a sticker calendar is a good way to encourage consistency
5. Make it fun: get them a fun toothbrush and a toothpaste they like
